A Poem Without a Name

Well, I just felt like sharing this poem I wrote up recently. Do tell me what you think.

Capture me,
Torture me,
Break me and bend,

Haunt me,
Taunt me,
Tear me and then,

Darkly stultify,
My worth in the world,
But hard as you’ll try,
Whatever you’ve heard,

Forever and always,
Unlike muscle and bone,
That can be robbed,
My soul is my own,

Endanger me,
Anger me,
Hurt and make grief,

Deal with me,
Steal from me,
Call me the thief,

Try as you might,
Do what you will,
In day or night,
Constant and still,

You can end my existence,
Take my control,
But one thing I won’t give—
You can’t steal my soul

Try me,
Lie to me,
Take all my loves,

Fight me,
Slight me,
Lock what I’ve dreamed of,

But whatever you say,
Whatever you do,
Now and all days,
This will be true:

You can break my body,
With a lucky roll,
But never, ever,
Will you have my soul

Thanks for reading!

This is an awesome poem!!

(And I know this is really weird, but it fits my book- A World of Cries- perfectly! I wish I could make it my theme poem of my books, but I guess I'll just have to make up my own.)

Did you write this?
Thanks for sharing!

Sorry it’s taken me so long to get back to you… I’ve been terribly busy. Here’s a reply to your comments on my blog:

Thank you so much, Melissa! Yes, I wrote that poem and had a ton of fun doing it… I'm so glad you enjoyed it!

And to your other comment:

Thank you for calling me sweet--it really made MY day.

It took me around two and a half years to finish the first draft, and three to get this far. I still might rewrite the last few chapters, though. However long you take, I wouldn't worry about ruining your book, though I have noticed that sometimes if you go over and edit the same writing too many times the words become... somewhat dry. That’s the only thing I’d be careful about when it comes to time and writing.

As for quick typing... there really is no way to ensure that, but what I will say is when you have the urge, when you know you can, drop everything, run to your computer and type. Just sit there, and type it, because inspiration is a faithless demon as much as the touch of an angel. It will abandon you, so use it when you have it for however long it lasts. And when you don't have it, just sit in front the computer and cough those words up. That's how I wrote Project 6-1-2... I just reached down my throat and pulled them out (at some points it was fairly uncomfortable; yet when I was done I was so sad. Funny how that works, isn’t it?).

Thanks again for your comments! They made me so happy!
