College, Cookies, and Chocolate Chips

Yessir, I'm a sixteen year old in community college. It's a totally new experience since I homeschooled all my life, but I'm loving every second. I have A's in English, A's in Psychology, A's in Music, and I'm hoping an A in art. It's a blast. Of course, I'm really busy. I'm taking part in a production o'er there, too, so I've hardly had time to post or write or draw or anything.

I did a lot of work yesterday. I cleaned up my schedule then so today I did get to draw. I'm gonna write. And right now I'm posting! I'm super happy that I got this time to lay out some sketches. We don't draw people in Art class--we draw vases. It was nice to go back to my cutesy cartoons for a little while.

I started rewriting Kings of Darkness. It's coming out pretty cool.

I don't feel like taking the time to polish this post. I just want a place to shout out my delight. Also, I'm making cookies. Cookies. How cool is that?

On my stories

I've started writing Kings of Darkness, yaaaaaaaaaaaay!

Yip, you heard right. Yesternight I poured out over 3000 words, which was wonderful. For probably the first time in my life I knew exactly what I was doing and where I was going to go. I am so, so happy for that, and I've gone pretty far too. I decided to try using Phoenix Shifter as the main character; I might change my mind later, but why not give it a go? She'll be Emily in this one (partly from the advice of Dear Sister), though, because it makes her a little more ordinary and I want her to be someone you can really connect with - someone whose eyes you can clearly see the land of Glorsifil through.

The trouble is that K.o.D. is only one of many stories I'm in the middle of writing. To put matters in perspective, here are just a few of the others:

An as of yet unnamed story about a man gone mad, his freaky psychologist, and his desperate attempts to go home and be with his family. The story follows Theodore and the other wards and workers in a mental hospital, exploring the idea of insanity and unraveling the mystery behind his mental illness and his new companions.

Dreams of Eden, a story about six miserable children who start dreaming of one another in a special, perfect place. Soon they learn that there is more to these dreams than meets the eye and set off on a long journey to find one other in their hidden paradise.

Twisted, a retelling of Snow White. Beatrice von Iden is a princess in her own right, and as her beloved step-mother taught her she has both a right and duty to all the privileges and obligations therein. When one day in the Queen's childhood castle, Beatrice - or Snow White, as she is fondly nicknamed - stumbles across the mystic Mirrors from her step mother's Fairies' Tales, her perfect world is slowly ripped apart as the years continue, driving her and the Queen further and further apart and throwing her into the hands of her worst nightmare and ancient enemies, the dwarves.

And those are just the most prominent at the moment. I'm still planning on writing a lot more stories in the world of Arrivia (the setting where my self-published sci-fi Project 6-1-2 takes place), for one thing, or a mystery about this guy and this girl trying to unravel their pasts, or another post-apocalyptic story. As you can see, I'm kind of overloaded. But that's okay, I guess, because yesterday I realized something I'd forgotten for a long, long while: I really, really do love to write. I hope one of these days I can make a career out of it, but I know now that I’ll be typing for the rest of my life.

Sad Endings and Mush

Now, I understand that everyone has different tastes, and that's just fine. It's a good thing, I guess. I mean if everyone in the world wanted to be a journalist and nothing else we'd have some serious problems, wouldn't we? ;-) But I - well, I just really really don't like sad endings.

First off, the whole point of reading or watching anything is to feel good, isn't it? And a sad ending really doesn't leave me feeling good. Besides, if the whole time the movie has been building and building up to 'How are these characters possibly going to get out of this?' Then BAM, they just don't, I feel rather cheated.

I guess a lot of times people are just going for an 'impact' when they kill off your favorite character or make all hope lost. And I suppose that in some cases that makes sense; Romeo and Juliet probably wouldn't be near as famous if they'd both survived, eh? But if the impact is a sad one that leaves you feeling miserable - I just don't see the point. Ugh, and I hate those endings that leave you crying and crying when really nothing could ever have been done differently by most the characters, like in The Phantom of the Opera. *sigh*

ANYHOW I couldn't think of anything else to post about, and since I'm suffering from the dreaded Writer's Block, my fall back ended up book related today. What’s really on my mind is whether or not I should completely switch out May Petersen from Kings of Darkness since she doesn't really have much of a personality, but then someone pointed how it's nice in that kind of an adventure for a character to lack much distinction, just so you could imagine that you were the one going through all this wonder whilst she does. My brain feels like mush and I ended up deciding I'll try switching out main characters and write for a while. I might scrap it later and start from scratch once more, but I might love it, too. We’ll see. Wish me luck, please!

Kings of Darkness Update

I worked on that book for almost three years, if you include the hours I poured into editing. The trouble was I honestly didn't know where I was going when I started – well, I knew how it was supposed to end and basic plot of the series, but what was the first book supposed to accomplish? What kind of missions would a band of Rebels go off on? I don't know.

What ended up happening were some cheesy, pointless, non-plot furthering scenes (including nympths, a 'Sword of Teer' that I made up COMPLETELY out of the blue, and time travel. No, I'm serious), pointless expeditions, and way too many characters (including a bratty sorceress, NYMPHS, and magical creatures). And then, a long, long while later I started rereading my story. Let's just say I was under impressed. My writing has, apparently, grown immensely since then and I have no intentions of associating my name with a sub-quality book - or rather, a book with which I know beyond doubt that I could do much, much better.

Then we have May Petersen, the main character. If you asked me about her, I would say: "She's an average multitalented girl average at everything she does besides solving mysteries (which she excels at) who gets sucked up into this magical land and has to help save the kingdom of Glorsifil from a tyrant King Ronan who doesn't seem quite - "

"No, no, Galaxy, I want to hear about what kind of person this 'May' is. What's she like?"

"Oh, oh! Well, she's got shoulder length auburn hair, emerald eyes, a square chin - " (I wrote this book before I cut my hair, I swear. Besides, my hair's too dusty to be auburn and my eyes to gray to be emerald. And my chin isn't square)

"No, Galaxy, you're doing it again. Tell me about her personality. Her traits."

Then there would be silence. I'd probably blink a couple times. If you asked me about any of my other original characters I could talk for hours about their personality alone.

"Um, well, she's resilient... nice... quick on her feet... and petrified of horses for the first five chapters while remaining jittery around them throughout the entire thing?"

As you can see, I have quite a few problems. The only thing I could think to do would be to totally rehaul everything - yes, everything - and write Kings of Darkness from scratch. Originally it was going to be four books all together: The Reining Night, A Glimmer of Light, Eclipse, and Dusk or Dawn, but now I'm noticing how I was trying to stretch out the first one in my mad attempts, and maybe if I just collapsed them all together it would make for a better, more action filled, less fluffy story.

I'm still figuring out how I'm going to execute all this, how I'm going to work it out, but I have to try. Because Fredric is in that book (and he's one of my favorites out of all the characters I've ever written), because I poured far too much of my heart and soul into that story to give up now, and because Mommy said abandoning K.o.D. was a "horrible, evil" thing, though she did express how much she doesn't like the fantasy genre.

And I guess that's all there is to it, but I promised an explanation, so there you have one. To do list: Manufacture a new main character, plot out what must be accomplished, feel out how many books it'll take (I'm hoping for only one, maybe two), and start once more. Mwahahahaahahaha.

In the meanwhile, I've got a newly published, very interesting, exciting sci-fi book called Project 6-1-2 with lots of awesome characters that you're absolutely welcome to read, buy, and review at this link here:

Project 6-1-2 (and a happy new year while I'm at it)

Happy New Year, everyone! I hope your 2009 was filled with moments of joy and love. I know mine was (though I still wish this awful arthritis would quit picking on me ;-D). My resolution for this year is to publish A book. ANY of my books, and not necessarily King of Darkness, as it looks like I'm going to do some major changes on how I'm going to go about writing it, and it won't be done for a long time. There are some shorter stories (that aren't series!) I'm working on, though, so I plan to publish one of them before I turn fifteen.

Okay, now that that's over with, I can move on to what I really want to post about: PROJECT 6-1-2!!!

If you know me well, you know I love to write (as much as I hate it. But that's the way writing goes--it's a love/hate relationship) with a passion that runs down deep into my soul and heart. I love creating new worlds, I love meeting and shaping and growing characters and I love each and every one of them--even, in a way, the villains. You can't understand how much joy it brings me to know all the worlds and people I've created.
Anyhow, I have lots of really cool premises and starts, but I have troubles pulling them through. I was complaining to Mom about this one day when I came up with a particularly cool premise, and she told me just to write it. I told her I really had no idea where to start and had nothing to write. She told me:
"Then write the nothing--but if all you do is sit and think about how you never finish anything you never will. Just write it." (there was more to it, but it was over a week ago so I'm having troubles remembering it)
Yep, I've got a really awesome and inspirational mother, and I am so grateful to her, because if she hadn't told me those words I wouldn't have the 'nothing' I've been working on for the past week or so: Project 6-1-2.

I normally write fantasy, but this particular story is a sci-fi. Here's a back-of-the-case description:

In the year 2030, when near 18-year-old Emma Corte begins to have terrible nightmares of murder, mayhem, and a mysterious assassin, she also begins to notice differences in her abilities--since when could she defeat five trained men with her bare hands?
Meanwhile, in another world, Destin, the chief of security of a mysterious land called 'Arrivia', and his assistant, Argon, attempt to unravel the mystery of a string of murders, which is mysteriously linked to Emma Corte and the long abandoned, terrible accident of Project 6-1-2.

It's got plot twists, and mysteries, and villains, and though it's mostly black and white, there is a little bit of gray. It'd be soooooo cool if I could ever get this made into any kind of movie--I really think it'd make at least a somewhat enjoyable watch if it was done right.
The really amazing thing about this script is that it only took me seven days to write it--SEVEN DAYS! I am so, so proud of it, and I love all of my characters so much. Here are the main four it revolves around:

Destin: The calm, cool and calculating Constable of Arrivia, Destin is brilliant, even
by Arrivial standards. He has worked hard and long to reach his position and is proud of his achievements, even if he doesn't show it. Good at putting his emotions out of the equation, he rules with head--sometimes drowning out his heart.
Argon: Argon is the assistant of Destin and is much more aggressive than his cool counterpart. Strong, gruff and sarcastic, he has acute instincts and prefers to leap before he looks--when Destin isn't policing him. Despite their many differences and verbal clashes, Argon looks up to his superior and holds great respect for him.
Emma: Though Emma spends most of the movie confused and frantic, she is more naturally calm and soft-spoken when the world isn't falling apart around her. Strong and kind, Emma trusts her instincts and heart to guide her way.
Enden: Enden is an assassin, and has no one in the world save himself. For someone capable of such dark acts, one would be surprised to learn that he is pleasant company, naturally friendly and easily brought to laughter when around--even if sometimes this nature can be terribly unnerving. An expert in martial arts and knife throwing, he is far more cunning than one might first guess from his light demeanor.

Of course there are a few side characters, but this is the main quartet who dominate the screen in my script. I love them all and had so much fun writing them that I had to share this with you, so I hope it didn't bore you to tears.

Thank you for reading!
(oh, and happy new year again!)

K.o.D.: tRN

K.o.D.: t.R.N.

Can anyone guess what this stands for...? Anyone...?

You guessed it! Kings of Darkness: The Reining Night; a book I' writing about a girl named May Petersen who appears in the magical land of Glorsifil. I've said so many times that 'it's almost done', or that 'it WILL be finished this month', or 'it WILL be finished this year' or SOMETHING along those lines, but now at last I'm going to tell the truth:

It will be finished before Christmas for sure, and if we're lucky sometime in October! I'm just waiting for a friend of mine--one of the people I play D&D with--to finish going over it (so if you're reading this, just me, PLEASE HURRY!) and draw a map of Glorsifil (the mythical country I made up for my book to take place in). Then all I have to do is listen to his constructive criticism and fix what I feel like, then read it with my parents, and finally GET IT PUBLISHED! HOORAY!

There's this site called CreateSpace that will allow me to self-publish it for very little money, and I've been researching it for a long time and it seems awesome. I'm really, really excited about getting my book 'out there', and if you care an inkling for the poor girl who has RA known as Galaxy you'll buy a copy! (Please...?)

Time to get started on K.o.D.: a.G.o.L.*!

It's been a while, hasn't it?

Now I'm finally posting after and eon-long brake... really, I don't know why I haven't been... mainly, I suppose, because the 'magic' from blogging has disappeared, and this has almost become a chore.

And I'm awfully lazy.

Even more so with this terrible arthritis problem (and I haven't gotten better yet... ay-ay-ay, it's almost been a year now!).

But the other thing is that I'm terribly tidy. If a drawer isn't closed all the way, it drives me crazy. If the fringes on the carpet aren't smoothly facing one direction, I have to fix it, otherwise I sit (twitching) as I go absolutely mad. But I'm too lazy to get up for the most part, unless I happen to notice it when I'm already up.

That's another thing about me. I hate getting up, but when I already am standing I don't mind going somewhere or doing something as much, if at all. And I hate getting things set up. Like if all the sudden I appeared in front of the computer ready to type a post with my hands on the keyboard, I'd have hundreds (depending, of course, on how often this odd apparition occurred). If I appeared sitting in front of the piano, I'd practice. If I appeared with the Latin book by me and Dear Sister actually ready to practice (like that's ever gonna happen) I'd do it...
It's the getting up and going to the computer, the walking all the way to the piano, finding the Latin book and getting Rose to co-operate that I find hard. I guess that's why I never really succeeded when I tried Violin... I love the sound of it, and I think it's beautiful, and besides of the discomfort, I enjoy playing it... but tightening the horse hair and rosining the bow, tuning the strings and attaching the shoulder rest was just too much. I'm odd that way.

On a different topic, I really miss performing. I want to dance for people. I want to hear people applaud, and I want to make them laugh and cry. I want to become another person again... someone different, and I want to make people believe it. But I can't, because I can barely move throughout the day. I need to remember to take my Naproxum(sp?) Sodium (the medication that lessons the pain--it doesn't make it disappear).
It may seem odd that someone so lazy as I could want to dance and sing and perform, but that's different. Loosing myself in, moving to and singing with music (especially in front of others) has always been a part of me, and I miss that. I miss standing on my toes. And I miss plays. I miss being able to stand up in front of hundreds of people in the Youth Plays and making them think I'm someone else.

But I shouldn't dwell on the past, those are things I can't have now, and can't do any longer. Maybe, maybe some day I can perform for a crowd, or dance for the world again, but now I can't, and what really matters is that I did once. I lived my dream, if only so long ago. I had it, so I should merely be happy for that and not long for it. How many people get to live their dream at all, let alone before they're even a teenager?

I should think about Kings of Darkness: the Reining Night. Which will be done in June. WILL (I hope):

I've been editing it for a while now and have almost finished my first go-over. Dear Sister is reading it so I can get her opinion, and I plan to show it to a friend of mine who is drawing the map for me as soon as it's done.

Mainly, I can't wait to show my parents.

Who don't even like that genre.

But they'll read it anyway.

So, I guess that's all I really have to say... there were a couple other things I wanted to mention, but this post is getting way too long and I want to finish it before I go to D&D, which will be really soon.

So be expecting at least a couple more posts coming soon, and maybe I'll be posting more often now. It sure was nice to vent all this.

All my adoration to my dear readers,

Galaxy

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I have an announcement to make...

As you know, if you are a regular reader of my blog, for over a year (maybe even two, I'm not sure) I've been working on a book called 'King of Darkness: The Reigning Night'. Well, today, April 17th, 2009, I have finished my first draft of the book.
At first I was just typing... I'd made a pact with myself that I would finish this book soon, right after I got this one adventure out of the way. But there was this sentence, this one sentence that one of my characters said that I just didn't know where to go from from there. It was so complete, I didn't know what to type next, even though I had a vague idea of what I wanted to happen. And it was then I told Mommy about it, and she asked what the sentence was (and no, I'm not going to tell you what it is (and no, it's not that great, I'm just all excited about it because the first draft is done, it really isn't that fabulous)--you'll just have to BUY THE BOOK, MWAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!), and she said,
"Why don't you just end it there?"
And it was like a weight was lifted off my shoulders. I could just end it there! That one sentence, that one sentence could be the last I'll ever type in that story! I just started screaming and I tell you, if I didn't have arthritis I would have jumped and danced. Instead I just rung my hands... oh, thank you god.
Of course, it's not done done, I've just finished my first draft, and I've got a lot of editing to do. I also wanted to get a map drawn of Glorsifil (the mythical continent I made up for this all to take place in) and illustrations done, but after that... We even found a place where I can publish it all, and if everything goes well, I might actually get it done before Christmas, just like I wanted! I'm so happy!
The funny thing is, once this is all done and over with, I'm going to start working on Kings of Darkness: A Glimmer of Light (the next book in the series) immediately. And the cycle will start all over...

Anyways, I'm just so so happy I had to post!

Love,

Galaxy

P.S. I do plan to post about Easter, but I'll probably be working on K.o.D. for a while, and I'm going over to Nana's house for the weekend, so don't expect it too soon.

2008, and 2009

2009... not quite there yet, but there aren't many minutes until then. Wow.

When '08 started, it felt like forever. Now it's practically gone, and '09 will seem like forever. It'll be a small slug, and then slowly pick up pace as the year goes on.

2008... the year I became a teen (YES!), the year Brother1 turned four (WHEN will I get used to that?! I still think he's 2 sometimes!), the year my beautiful sister had a spy party, the year I had my first Blogger Anniversary, the year my daddy got a new job, the year Brother2 turned one... the year I reached page 100 on K.o.D.... This wonderful, wonderful year.

Wow.

Anyways, I have a couple resolutions...
  1. Publish K.o.D. by Christmas (yes, I will do it this... er, next year)
  2. Learn 50 new words
  3. Be able to carry some sort of a conversation in Latin.
  4. My joint pains will be GONE
  5. Learn to play a five line piece on the piano--two handed!

I hope everyone had a wonderful 2008--and will have a better '09!!!

News on Kings of Darkness

I am so, so excited about my book! I'm at page 143. That's write--er, I mean, right--ONE HUNDRED FORTY THREE! I've never, ever, ever made it close to this far in a book, even though I must have 143 started story ideas on the computer somewhere.
I normally come up with an idea, type it for a while, get bored, come up with another idea, and months later stumble over the first, read it, then wish I'd typed more cause it was rather interesting, then not know what I was planning to do with the plot, and even if I do remember and get myself to type more of it, I get bored again really quickly.

It's different with K.o.D.. I'm actually really excited about finishing it. Really looking forwards to holding the finished story in my hands... Super excited about what my characters are going to do next.
Honestly, I hardly ever know what's to happen next. I believe in writing as you go along... You know, typing as you come up with ideas. True, I do have some things I know will happen, and some answers I'm waiting to pull out, but for the most part I don't know what I'm doing, and I think the story is more exciting because of it.

Last year I wanted to finish K.o.D. this year... I don't think there is much of a chance for that. I will, however, be surprised if by 2010 this book is not finished, and I expect it might even be published. Still, if I'm really lucky and type lots of pages a day, I just might be able to finish it in time for the new year. Highly unlikely, but definitely possible.

If you want to know the latest news on my book, I have an area on my side-bar dedicated to King of Darkness. It has how many pages I've written, a link to a 'sneak peak' of my book, and if there's anything else about K.o.D. I want to say, it's said there.

Please buy my book when it comes out!!!

If I was going to die...

I don't know why, but I've been thinking about how I would feel and what I would do if I found out I was going to die.

When I first found out about it, I would probably be quite shocked at first, then I'd cry for a while, then I'd realize that if I'm going to die soon, I'd better have the best time of my life RIGHT NOW.

My number one worry would be how sad my family would be when I was gone, so I'd probably spend a lot of time trying to convince them not to worry. Don't get me wrong, I don't want to die, I want to live to 154 and see my great grandkids, but I'm not scared of death... I'm actually sort of looking forwards to the rest after a hopefully long and happy life.

I'd probably type Kings of Darkness up like crazy... I'd have to condense all the four books I plan to write into one, and I might not even finish that in time. I would probably ask Dear Sister to finish it for me.

Another worry of mine is that Brother1 and 2 wouldn't remember me. That would devastate me. I'd want to be a part of their life... Someone that they would love and adore and remember forever. Brother1 would probably remember me a bit, but #2...

Anyways, what got me thinking of this? I don't know. But, I'm definitely glad I'm going to live!

IT'S OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, my, gosh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hooray!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What on this earth took me so long to CHECK?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!

*Jumping, dancing, screaming, singing, leaping, laughing... et cetera (which means 'and the remaining things' in Latin, by the way)*

Inkdeath is out. Inkdeath is out. INKDEATH IS OUT.

I've got to put that book on hold... I've been waiting so, so long for it... I just can't believe it. I knew it was coming out some time around now, but I didn't realize it ALREADY WAS! Me oh my oh gosh...

On another topic, I'm typing K.o.D. again (yes, I took a break... I just wasn't sure what to do after the Nymphs, but now I think I'm going to bring in some boats! That should be fun, hehe)... and I'm super excited! Seeing that Inkdeath is out(!!!!!!!!!!) is really inspiring me to right more, for some strange reason. I intend to read Ms. Funke's book, and hopefully find some inspiration for my own book...

It's strange, because Kings of Darkness is ending up being an original story, but it has these... elements from books I've read and loved... The Villain, King Ronan, seems to remind me of Capricorn (the villain from Inkheart, one of the predecessors to Inkdeath), the feel of the book (though definitely different) makes me think of Alagaseia(sp?) from the Inheritance series. The Ma'Ge, mysterious, old and warm makes me think of Dumbledore, from Harry Potter, and other little things remind me of other books... Certainly, my book isn't a copy of anything, it's just got some cool elements from other stories. It's neat to see that what I've read affects what I write...
And, I thought I'd let you know, I've dropped the whole idea of my book having 200 pages. It could easily end up being that amount, it's not like I have too much story, it's just that that doesn't seem like enough... enough to make you love May, Fredric, Darren and Gloria... enough to make you care about Glorsifil, and the Rebels' fight for freedom, enough to make you hate Ronan with an amazing fire, and enough to get you hooked enough to buy the next book.

ANYWAYS, it's coming along great and I can't wait to finish it!

And I can't wait to read Inkdeath!

Rulers of Night

He he he... a.k.a. 'Kings of Darkness'!

I haven't been doing much on K.o.D. since I reached the 100 marker, but all of that has now changed. I'm on #119 and quite excited!

I'm trying to keep the characters and story light-hearted, (unlike some other books I know--Pirate Curse, I'm looking at you!) as I've read enough dark and dreary ones, though some darkness does have to creep in here and there--I mean, it's called 'Kings of Darkness' for goodness sake!

Anyway, I'm not sure if I've told you yet, but there are going to be four books (unless of course this series gets really popular and I miss May and Darren and Gloria and Fredric and I need to come up with some kind of sequel through another series).

If you remember, a long time ago I said I was considering making Glorsifil a whole different world, and adding in magical creatures? Well I did. Now there are Mers (the general term for mermaids and mermen), Dragons, Fairies... and that's about all I've added so far. I might do Harpies later, but besides that, I can't think of anything else... (remember, I'm open for ideas! Any magical-creature suggestions will be welcome!) But anyhow, they're all really cool.

Anyway, that's about all I have to say for now! Bye!

P.S. Please check out 'The Latest On Kings of Darkness:' on the side bar every once in a while for updates and the page I'm currently on.

Why haven't I been posting?

The answer's rather simple: My fams been sick (I have been spared, thank goodness!) and dear Mommy has been hit the worst... Rosi and Brother1 got hit rather bad, but they've gotten over it mostly. Brother2 has it as well, but he's doing much better than he has been... it was so sad seeing a little baby like that!
Anyway, that's one reason... the main one is that I've been having problems thinking of something to post! (as I'm sure you've guessed)

So what's been up with me? Rose and I are writing a musical and we're really excited about it! (if only we could think of what it's about!) Kings of Darkness is coming along... slowly, I've been going to ballet regularly, and I went to my second class of Salsa/Swing dance Thursday. Life has been pretty good, I just wish the fam wasn't so sick...

Well... until next post!

Writers Block

I've tried a million times. I've sat in front of the computer, just staring at Kings of Darkness... and all I've accomplished is backspacing page 100. What the heck am I supposed to do!? I really liked my story.... I just don't know what to write!!! Honestly, I've been trying to add more for over a month... maybe even two... I haven't really been keeping track, but that I know. *sigh* Writer's Block is one of the worst sicknesses, I think. (though nothing that I've had can defeat the stomach flew, strep(sp?) throat, or chicken pox... oh, if you want to read more about when I had chicken pox--and why I love showers--then go to some of my earlier posts in 2007)

I guess I can only hope that one day I'll find some sort of inspiration within me... This really is driving me crazy!

Wish me luck!

The Experiment--Entry #1, Phase #1

Now a post with that title makes you think creepy aliens came and abducted me and put ice-cream in my veins instead of blood and put my brain where my heart should be (ewwww!). Nope, sorry to disappoint you, but I wasn't abducted by aliens. The 'Experiment' isn't really that big of an experiment at all.

I thought I would catalogue the 'Experiment' on this blog so I could see how it came along years from now, and so others can tell about this whole thing. Okay, now I bet you're just dieing to know what this weird experiment thingy is... I would be.

I will now liberate you from your pain:

A couple of days ago mommy (who is quite familiar with my love for writing, and yes, sadly I still have writers block with K.o.D.) suggested that I write a story, print it out and illustrate it in one months time free-form, with no scheduling; and then, after the month has passed, schedule a story, plan when I'm going to write it, when the story part of it is will be done, when to start illustrating it, and the whole kit and caboodle; then, in the end, we would compare stories and see the difference.

Not quite abducted by aliens, huh?

Anyway, I've started my story and I'm quite excited about it. I think it'll be cool. Now that I'm done giving you the intro of the 'Experiment', I'll actually make my entry:

I started writing the story three days ago and it's coming along great. I think I know what's going to happen with it, and I'm really excited. I think it's going to be cool.
I'm very proud of the speed at which I am writing, almost a page a day (meaning I've just started page four). I hope to finish page four before the end of the day, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to.
One thing I'm not looking forward to is illustrating it... I'm really no artist. Oh well... maybe somehow a miracle will occure and I'll have drawing power of Davinci(sp?).

Well, that's all I have to say of note! Thanks!

Half Way There!!!

Hurray! I have reached page 100 on Kings Of Darkness! It took many monthes, but I finally made it! I'm about halfway through, as I would like to make my story somewhere around 200 pages. I'm so excited!

Spontaneity and Life MIX

Really, it's true. Planning things out can be good in some situations, but life and spontaneity really go together well.

Today I had to be at ballet at 11:50... My alarm was going off for a while and I hit the 'snooze' button many times before I finally dragged myself out at 8:15ish. I got up and checked some of my favorite blogs (you know, Normal Is SO Last Week, Me In General (Dear Sister's blog), and Inky Paws), then I typed Kings Of Darkness for who-knows-how-long and got to page #87--I'll post you when I reach 100... I'd describe May Peterson's (my main character) situation, but it wouldn't make any sense unless you've already read the rest of the book... for a quick sneak peek, check out this post.
Anyway, after a while of typing, Daddy gets up. He comes over and asks if I could hold Brother2 while he takes a shower. I say sure and ask what's for breakfast. Daddy says he would really like it if I could make muffins, so in the end I have them ready just in time to get out the door! I have a particularly good class at ballet while Daddy and the rest of my clan (as Brother1 would put it) 'Walk 'round town' and Mommy stops at "Sunny Side Up" to have a brunch with other homeschooling Moms. After ballet daddy and my sibs pick me up and we go over to meet mommy. All of us go in and sit down with the rest of them and I get to see a really great friend of mine I haven't seen in--a quick glance at the eon scale on my watch--eons! We talk a lot and play with one of the little girls there. Dear Sister, Qacei (the friend I haven't seen in eons) and I talk and talk as well as join in on the grown up conversations and have a wonderful time! After which we agree we just need to get together!
After this perfectly wonderful time we just have to do more! As it turns out, we heard someone talking about a free tea-tasting thing, and we go over to borders and make it fifteen minutes before the free-tea stopped. I tried my very first caffeinated tea, we tried two different types and I liked the Chai the best... the creamy part on top was divine, I tell you, divine!
After the tea we find that we're all starving... what to do? how about Nearly Normals? No... Dear Sister does not want to go there at the moment. So after a lot of thought, we decided to go the the Pita Pit (though Brother1 wanted a Sun Burger, so we took one to-go) and ate in the car. After that we're all fed and happy and really would like to go see someone. We decide since we're in the area it would be nice to see some old friends we haven't seen in two and a half years!!! We give 'em a call and agree to come over soon... but not before stopping by the store and buying a package of sandwich creams (a lot like oreos only better) and Chocolate Soy Milk--no way! Now we go to see our friends. There we see their new twins--who are absolutely adorable--a boy and a girl who are about a year old now. Me and Dear Sister played with their older daughter--a long time friend of mine.
After that we're all really tired and start driving home. Now we're here. Nothing in this day was planned--not including the date at "Sunny Side Up" and ballet. So here I am typing with a smile on my face. Life is really good, and your middle finger is sore from scrolling down so much on this ridiculously long post, but hey, life is still really good.

That's one thing for sure.

Happy New Year!

I'm so excited to start the new year! I can't wait to find out what wonderful stuff this year will hold.

On my first resolution...

I'm really going to get working on Kings Of Darkness! I've actually come up with a lot of really cool ideas for my book with lots of twists in the plot and interesting betrayals and truths... But I can't put most of them in until the next book in the series! I really want to make my book different from the average, which I think I'm succeeding in though it does has a similar feel to Eragon and Eldest (two of my favorite books)... One thing I'm really curious about is weather or not to add magical creatures to this fantasy book... I'm page #56 (I know... I know... I write really slow...) and I haven't put in any magical beings or creatures, but I often wonder if I should go over it again and add some... Another dilemma is if I should make Glorsifil (the land where all this takes place) America way before the colonists found it or a completely different world... Right now I have it as America in the past, but I'm seriously considering changing it.

On my other resolution...

I'm going to take a Baby-Sitting class some time this month so I can get a job... I really need to figure out how much I'm going to charge in order to baby-sit... That really is the hardest part.

Happy New Year!!!

New Years Resolution

It's so hard to believe that the year of 2007 is nearly at an end... after all it was the year I was blessed with a new brother... the year I choreographed my first ballet... the year my mom cut her hair... the year I cut my hair... the year we took a mini vacation to Portland for daddy's Birthday... the year I started Kings Of Darkness... one of the best years of my life... I hope that 2008 will measure up.

I have two resolutions for the next year:

1: My first resolution for the next year is to finish Kings Of Darkness and find a skilled illustrator who can really draw the characters as I see them in my mind.
2: My second resolution for this year is to get a job--as a baby-sitter maybe.

That's it... for now.

Wish me luck!
