Funny Story

Okay, so yesterday I was at the Co-Op with daddy, nothing unusual about that. Anyway, while Dad was buying the food I was looking at some plants. They had bunches of really cute really tiny plants! Then I saw some adorable Cacti! They were so tiny! They had about three different verities there at that moment. I bent over and touched one that's poky-thing's were like a porcupine. Then I touched one that had slightly denser not as strong pokies, they didn't really hurt. THEN my eyes fell on the third, it had quills that were slightly thicker than a strand of hair and were very tiny, it looked rather fuzzy. I leaned over and touched it... Why couldn’t I keep my hands to myself? The darn thing had hooks! My finger was stuck!!! And it hurt like none of the others... The little quill was stuck to me! I tried to move my finger away but it wouldn't come out!
"Daddy!" I called in anguish. "I'm stuck!"
Later dad told me he thought I'd put my finger in a Venus fly-trap.
Anyway, daddy did come and cut that god-forsaken-hooky-quill so I could move my finger. After that, I twisted the quill out of my finger. It still hurt five minutes later.

Important Life Lesson Learned From This:

Don't touch Cacti, they hurt.

I guess I am very lucky this year...*

Yes, its snowing! I woke up at about 9:00 and rolled over to look out the window. It was snowing. And not just any snow, it looked like a snow globe out there! Then I woke Dear Sister up. I was looking out our back door and I saw that there was a lot of snow on my poor, poor, trees Laura and Joy. So I don't even put a jacket on and use mommy's shoes to go outside and rescue my trees. The snow is a little mooshy... really mooshy... It probably won't stick that long, but it was a very beautiful sight. Hopefully Dear Sister and I can play in it.

Apple, the Apple Tree

Remember the seeds that Dear Sister and I planted? Well, this is the only apple seed that grew... Rose got to name her because she was the one who planted her, but I get to keep Apple when I grow up and plant her in my house. She really is growing! I can't wait 'till ten years have passed and I can actually find out if she can produce edible (and yummy) apples!

SPROUTS!

Remember my post about apple trees? Remember how Dear Sister and I planted some apple seeds? One of them has sprouted! And with a new sprout comes a new name, Dear Sister planted that seed so she got to name it... The new sprout's name is Apple. I stood against it but I'm sure I'll worm up to it eventually... and she is Paris' sprout. Besides the name, I LOVE my little tree! Here are some pictures of our new plant:

You might recognize the Pot from Laura and Joy (my too mini trees), they outgrew these ones so I moved them into bigger ones and used this to plant seeds in. The whole planting process was all rather easy, we folded the seeds in a moist paper towel and put it in a Zip-Loc baggy. We'd change the paper towel every once in a while until the seeds started to sprout. Then we stuck them in a pot filled with dirt about and inch deep and watered every once in a while. In the end, we have this sprout!

Laura and Joy

A long time ago my Grandmother bought me and my siblings two mini Christmas trees! They're sooooo cute! I talk to them a lot... I even named them: the one of the left is: Laura Cheer A. The one on the right is: Karen (after my grandmother) Joy A.--we usually just call her Joy. Laura is about ten inches tall, and Joy is about six.
Here's a picture:

My absolutely adorable brother wanted to be in this one:

Well, there you go! Our gorgeous mini trees!

Apple Trees

Remember my post the perfect apples (if not, go read it)? Well, we're trying to plant some apple seeds from one of those wonderful apples! We folded them in a moist paper towel and put that in a plastic Zip-Loc baggy. Then we waited until the seeds were germinated... now what? We looked it up and all the sites said to plant the seeds outside, but we don't want to do that because it will take many years to grow, and we'll probably be out of this house by then! We want to grow the seeds in a pot until it can't possibly stay in one any longer... is that possible? We also read that the fruit of a younger apple tree won't be at all like the fruit of its parent... so we don't really know what to do... We'll probably just wing it... I'll post ten years from now and tell you how it went.

The Perfect Apples

Mommy and Daddy bought some apples at First Alternitive, nothing wrong with that. Then we tasted the apples. Then we tasted some more. Then we bought ten dollars worth and decided to plant our own tree of them. They were PERFECT!!! The didn't look much differant from your average apple, besides the fact that they were rather large, but if you tasted them... it was like candy I tell you! We couldn't stop eating them! I LOVE those apples...
