Eragon, the movie

If you plan to see the movie, and have read the book, DO NOT SEE IT!!!!!!!!!!!! The movie butchers the story, butchers it, Arya actually flirts with Eragon, she has blond hair, and her ears are round, the Ra'Zac actually get killed, and you hardly see Murtagh, who is one of the better characters, in my opinion. Not to mention they cut out most of Nasuada, and her friendship with Murtagh, and Katrina out all together. They ruined the character of Angela, Durza has a stupid 'creepy nail thing' going on, the Urgals are just stupid, bulky men--no horns, no differently colored skin, just stupid, bulky men! And it was just a bad movie on its own.

If you have not read the book, and plan to watch the movie, read the book instead. Awful show.

Why am I saying this months after I watched the show? Because I just happened to be thinking about it because of my poll (the one that you choose which series you liked better, Inheritance or Harry Potter--I like Inheritance).

Galaxy

P.S. Did I happen to mention that the book is one of the best books in the world? It is, which is why I'm so frustrated with this awful movie.

Halloween '08--Part #1

So I got out of bed around 10:00 today, though I was awake much earlier. Mostly, we've just eaten breakfast and worked on our Costumes. Rose's is really cool, and I'd tell you what it was, but she asked me not to. You'll have to check her blog sometime soon to find out, I guess.

As for me, I'm probably just going to be Anne Boleyn, and not her ghost... it just ended up that way. We're working on making a headpiece, but I already have the perfect dress. The Neckline is just like what they wore!
As for jewelry, I have some fake pearls (she wore real ones) I don't have any gold chains (something else I've seen in her pictures) so some goldy-greeny necklace (that is very lovely, by the way) that goes with my dress will do.

Daddy should be coming home from work at around 3:15, which I'm very excited about! Halloween is going to be so fun!

Friday Fillins #29

Alrighty, then... This week's Friday Fillins!

1. My favorite food seasoning is probably salt...
2. Brother1 & 2 laughing is music to my ears.
3. Lucky is something I am.
4. Giving a hundred and ten percent of my energy to whatever it is I am doing, and continuing until I drop or I finish is something I take very seriously.
5. Many people think that Vegans are missing out on a lot, I feel that they are.
6. The Sims 2 Freetime expansion pack for Rose's 11th birthday was the last thing I bought at the store.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to Daddy coming home early, watching Arabian Nights, dressing up, baking and eating treats and walking around town to see Halloween decorations, tomorrow my plans include maybe going to a Potluck and Sunday, I want to have fun!

If you would like to do your own Fillins, go to this link, or find the Friday Fillins link on my side-bar.

Happy Halloween!

A good likeness, don't you think?

Brother1 as Indiana Jones--note

It's him, Indiana Jones, 2008

Hands up!

Gosh, isn't he the cutest!?!?!?! (besides Brother2 of course!!!)

Brother1 changed his mind. Now he's going to be Indiana Jones (now that will be some fun!!!)

Halloween

Golly... is it really only the day after tomorrow?! Ikes....

As you know, (if you read this post) I plan to be the ghost of Anne Boleyn (the second wife of King Henry VIII, who he had executed), but I don't think I mentioned that Brother1 intends to be a Bumble Bee (oh, gosh he is so cute when he's a Bumble Bee!!!), Rose might be the Kissy Monster (Brother1's idea), Some-One-Who-Didn't-Dress-Up-For-Halloween, or something else she thinks up at the last minute. Mommy is going to be a Harried Mother by wearing pajamas, messing her hair up and looking dazed... I'm not sure what Brother2 will end up being, or Daddy, but I'm sure we'll think of something.

Since we're vegan, we probably won't go trick-or-treating, but we definitely will celebrate! We plan to watch Arabian Nights (you know, that story about the crazy sultan who gets a new wife everyday and then executes her so she can't betray him... but then he marries Scheherazde, and she tells him a new story every night, but never finishes them in the same day, so the sultan is left in suspense, and if he has her killed, he'll never know what happens next. The movie is basically the many stories she tells, and a bit about her story), listen and dance to Halloween-ee music, make a few treats, dress up and walk about the streets to see Halloween decorations.

Anyways, I'm really really excited and just can't wait!

Happy Halloween!

P.S. I'd like to see what you are going to be for Halloween... it'd be nice if you could comment it for me!

The Nameless Movie

Alright, then. What have I been doing the last few days?

I'll answer that:

Typing, typing, and typing.

Ever since some time around the 20th, I've been typing up a movie idea I had. Once I had finished The Rose of Gondor (that movie I was working on) with a bunch of friends, I'd been wanting to make one for myself (I was just in that one, and didn't actual write the script or direct or film, though it definitely was a lot of fun!), so Dear Sister and I started talking about plot ideas, and I came up with something and typed up the first couple of scenes. When I showed it to Rose, though, she didn't like the idea. But by then I was too into it to stop, so I decided that I would write it anyways, if only for my own fun. So now I have finished it, and it's 20-something pages long... I still have some editing to do, and I haven't figured out the title, but I think it will be done soon. Here's the basic plot: (Mommy, Daddy, it'd be nice if you didn't read this part, I put it all in italics so you can skip over it)

A few years after a great civil war led by the evil Sorceress Nydain, the King dies in the land of Fardric, leaving his adopted son, Prince Ivan, to choose the new King or Queen (since he is adopted, he cannot take the throne). Unfortunately, all of the candidates are selfish and greedy, not fit to rule.
Meanwhile, Ivan's childhood friend Annavel (no, that was not a typo, Anna-Vel) is searching for the 'Del Child', someone she heard of in a prophecy, and who could have saved the King had Annavel found her in time. Eventually, she finds the Del Child in the form of a peasant girl named Elia, a girl of strange and extraordinary powers, who is quite frightened by them.
Unfortunately, Nydain wants to find Elia and steal her powers with a special spell that she is trying to find. She kidnaps Elia eventually, and Ivan, Annavel, and Elaine (Elia's tough country mother) have to save her.

I'm rather proud of the script, actually, and I really hope it turns out well! I want to get some people from The Rose of Gondor to help me with it, since they have a bit more experience than I, but I think that this will be a blast, and Dear Sister has volunteered for the part of Elia, though what she thinks of the movie is impossible to tell (she is sooooo indecisive).... Anyways, I'm not just considering her because she is my sister. Rose is one of the best actresses I know, and I'm not just saying that... she can really become someone else, and I'd be really glad to have her up in the main trio of characters (Ivan, Annavel, and Elia).

Anyways, hopefully I'll be able to pull this all together! I'm really looking forwards to it!

I have decided!

Yes, everyone, I at last know what I'm going to be for Halloween!

Not a Fairy... (I was one when I was six)

Not a Vampire... (did that... twice)

Not a Witch... (too cliche)

Not Medusa... (honestly, getting the snakes out of my hair was worse then getting my hair up for a ballet recital. That's saying something. I am never doing that AGAIN!)

Not a Harpy... (I was that last year)

Not a Ghost... well, actually, I am a ghost, but a bit more specific...

I will be The Ghost of Anne Boleyn!

You probably know who she is, but I didn't until I read Shakespeare's Secret (which was fairly recently) so I'll just say a few things about her:

She was the second wife of King Henry VIII (the 8th), mother to Queen Elizabeth I (the first), and was beheaded for adultery to the King. Whether or not those charges were true is under speculation... there really isn't a way to know for sure. Supposedly she was cheating on King Henry with five different men (it might have been four... I am uncertain), one of which was her brother (rather weird, right?). All of them (one might have been spared, but I'm pretty sure all of them) were beheaded. Including Anne.
Probably the main reason for her execution was that she never gave birth to a boy, just one girl, Elizabeth. She did get pregnant at least one other time, but the children never made it.

King Henry had four other wives after Anne, and one before. He had three children together, a daughter named Mary (with his first wife, Catherine of Aragon--how do you spell that? I ), Elizabeth (Anne Boleyn's girl, who only saw her mother in her youngest years), and a boy, Edward (can't remember his mom. I get them confused) and three of his six wives were named Catherine (though they differed on the spelling).

I've liked Anne since I first read about her... she seemed smart, kind and brave to me from what I know about her. I think it will be a lot of fun to be her ghost for this Halloween, and I plan to do a big bloody gash on my neck where my head had been 'chopped off'.

P.S. I'm not really certain of what kind of costume I'll wear, so suggestions would be much appreciated!!!

If you like my blog...

...then here's a blog you probably should go to:

Me In General (me-in-general.blogspot.com)

This is Dear Sister's blog, and if you regularly read my blog, then you've read her name quite often. Her posts often coincide with mine, as we both do a lot together (e.g. when we both posted about a vacation-ish thing). And sometimes, I even rely on her to put up information that I don't.

I posted this post because it just occurred to me that someone might be reading my blog, and not my sister's... so, I thought I'd post this so you could find her blog, and hopefully stop by! If you do like my blog, you should definitely check her's out.

I love you, Rosi!!!

My Blogiversary--One Year

Wow... a whole year.

Yes, everyone, my first posts were made on 10/14/07. Well, now it's 10/14/08. Exactly one year later.

It's really hard to believe... yet somehow it feels like I've been doing this forever... So very odd, isn't it? Now, looking back on my old posts, it's rather strange reading what I said, and knowing that I wrote that. That's the weirdest.

So now I feel as if I should write something poetic, or inspirational or something... yet I really can't think of anything to say... I just am grateful I can catalog my life, so that I can look back on the silly little me years from now. Gosh... what will I think of myself ten years from now? How will I feel when I look at this post and see this writing? This anniversary of my Galaxy is truly a wake-up call to the passage of time. Time certainly flies...

Happy blogiversary, me!

P.S. Speaking of time, in 2013 I'll be 18. Now that's freaky!

Okay, so some other friends called and we decided to meet on Wednesday for D&D anyways... It won't be as fun, but we've been waiting so long it doesn't really matter. The missing people's characters will be kidnapped for a bit! (hehehe...)

Hoping, hoping, and hoping and hoping!!!

For the past couple of months (at least it feels like it... I'm pretty sure it has been at least one month, though), Dear Sister and I have been trying to get together a game of D&D (see this post for information on the game). Every time we set a date, either one of us gets sick, or something else comes up and we can't do it. It's as if Fate doesn't want us to play!

Last week we'd gotten so fed up with Fate that we decided to have two games in one week, only separated by one day and to have those games last for a loooooooooooooooooong time. Well, if you've been reading my posts then you know that it's just last week that Dear Sister, Brother1, Brother2 and I all got sick. And one of our other friends got sick, just in case we got better.

Anyways, we're planning on playing this Wednesday... hopefully everyone will be healthy then, and nothing will come up... Fate, please have some mercy!!!

A Wonderful Movie

Being sick, and not having much else to do, Dear Sister and I decided we'd watch an instant movie on Netflix. After going through many duds (including "Grease 2", ick!), we came to "It Could Happen To You", and decided to give it a try because we were looking for a romantic comedy (it didn't hurt that Nicholas Cage starred in it, you gotta love him).

The plot is about this police officer who doesn't have enough money to tip this waitress, so he promises her double the tip the next day, or half of his lottery ticket if he wins anything. Well, he hits the jackpot at fourmillion, but his money hungry wife (who has one of the most annoying voices known to humanity) wants to keep all the money.

Near the end, the movie seems like it's not going to end well, and Rose and I were simply furious, and rather close to tears (okay, we were teary), but then they turned it around and it ended in such a sweet and wonderful and amazing way that we weren't just teary. It was a fabulous, sweet and simple movie that I don't think I'll ever forget, and it was based on a true story. Just thought I'd mention it.

The sweetest thing in existance...

...lives in my house. He is my brother, and he is amazing.

Earlier today I asked Brother1 if he'd love me forever. He said he'd have to 'sink' (how he says 'think') about it.
So, I was just sitting on a big comfy arm-chair hours later (I had completely forgotten about the incident) when Brother1, with a big beautiful smile, climbs up and cuddles me (this is a real something on it's own; he usually only cuddles with Daddy) and says:

"I had to sink about if I would love you forever for a long time. And my answer is yyyyes!"
"REALLY?!" I say in my oh-my-gosh-you-are-the-most-wonderful-thing-in-the-world tone.
"Yes, and I'll never stop loving you, and I'll love you 'til I die and I'll still love you while I die, and I love you, and I'll never un-love you..." and then he started hugging me while he continued to tell me how he'd love me forever. How cute and amazing and wonderfully he said this all and more is impossible to put in writing... I'll I can say is I'll love him forever, and apparently, he'll love me too!

I really don't know how I got so lucky.

AT LAST!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, my, gosh. You don't know how long I've been waiting for this. Years. Bunches of aching months. All the while, needing and waiting and hoping for the next book.

And now, I have it, and I'm reading it, and I'm loving it, and I'm already over halfway through! I honestly don't know how I'm going to handle it being over... I mean, I've been waiting so long and then it's going to be gone like that! I just can't take it!
How did I find it? Where did I get it? Did I by or rent it?
Well, we were walking through Costco (rather quickly, as the store was closing) when we passed the book section. I almost walked by it when I saw that beautiful golden dragon and the word Brisingr on a book, and I grabbed it. Then I ran up to by parents, started jumping up and down, but the moment I asked if we could get it, Mom lifted up her hand, and within it was the very same book. I smiled and put my copy back. Mom really knows me.

I own the entire Inheritance series, not including the next one to come. And before Brisingr came out, I had read the entire series five times plus. Personally, I believe these books are better than Harry Potter. Then again, I don't really like the whole Harry Potter series as much as most do.
How is the book so far?
Well, the first ten-ish pages are not very enjoyable, well written, but I didn't like it, then the rest of the chapter was just grand, full of action (the destruction of most of the Ra'zac, FINALLY) and a bit of romance between Katrina and Roran. I almost cried, but then again, it's easy to make me do so.

After Eragon killed the other Ra'zac, the book got a little weird. It just didn't make much sense, especially the part where Eragon decides to eat meat again. He goes from being utterly repulsed by it, to eating it frequently in the story... it was just weird and I think that if Mr. Paolini intended him to eat meat, he shouldn't have through the whole vegetarian phase. I also didn't like the Sloan part too much, but it wasn't really bad.

After that happens, things go wonderfully and the book gets great. Action, adventure, battles... It really is a fabulous book and I can barely put it down long enough to make this post.
As for my predictions for the future... I think Murtagh might be a shade, as he has improved strength, and there was another hint to that fact from this weird guy who had some sort of vision. I'm probably wrong (because why would Thorn serve a shade?) but it would make me feel better if he was, and it would make more sense as to how he could act that way. I never liked him being a bad guy. Murtagh was one of my favorite characters... not too far from Eragon. I just couldn't bare it, and it broke my heart in the ending of the second book, Eldest. I'm still hoping for him to go back to his good old humorous and fun and kind self. Hear that Christopher (the author, for those of you who don't know)? Bring back Murtagh(please)!

Also, I'm positive that Oromis is going to die. I know Oromis is going to die. I'm preparing myself, and if he doesn't die, I will be very, very surprised, and rather happy, if he does die, I will be prepared (then again, I was 'prepared' for Dumbledore to die in the Harry Potter books, but when he did I cried like a baby... it was just so sad!).

So, overall, what do I think of the book so far? It's grand, entertaining, wonderful, adventurous, humorous... I just love it. I love, love, love it! Gosh, I really don't know what I'm going to do when it's over... *sigh*
Okay... I guess that's all I have to say--besides to tell you to run the nearest store possible and BUY THIS BOOK!
